Always Augment - Never Replace

Superintelligence will make most labour redundant.

So what will future humans do?
Things they enjoy - such as making music.

How will future humans do this?
By creating music directly from the mind, in real-time, using BCIs.

But today, it's not even possible to create music in real-time, regardless of BCIs.

Therefore,

  • Phase 1: enable live electronic music creation (software only)

  • Phase 2: add motion capture, AR glasses, and neuro hardware (for deep brain mapping at runtime)

  • Phase 3: music creation directly from the mind (BCI now for creation, not just measurement)

Advances in neurotech will unlock massive application-layer value; comparable to how smartphones unlocked the App Store, but bigger.

These applications will have to:

1. understand human intent in real-time
2. continually learn at runtime
3. co-create seamlessly with the human

Music is the hardest available test case:

Live performance is continuous, high-dimensional intent expressed at millisecond latency with instant sensory feedback and zero tolerance for error. When PsyTech can understand human intent and co-create at that level, almost every other domain is downstream.

Phase 1

Today, music creation has massive demand - and catastrophic conversion.

Just FL Studio is downloaded 30,000 times every single day. It turns all of that into €46.7M a year.

A mere €4 per person who had the desire.

Traditional DAWs are a rounding error on the demand they create. Due to a very steep learning curve, and the many weeks required to produce even a single track, more than 90% of enthusiastic beginners churn.

PsyTech builds VoidWave.

VoidWave gamifies electronic music creation, making it easier, faster, and more enjoyable. VoidWave’s intuitive guitar-hero-style interface, coupled with an integrated music lessons and a music copilot, lets beginners go from sign-up to playing live in seconds, with a completed track in a few minutes at most.

All technology can either be used to augment, or to replace.

Replacing humans is easy.

You merely look at what humans already do, and use AI to make it:
1. faster
2. cheaper

Augmenting humans is hard.

It requires building intelligent machines which:
1. understand human intent in real-time
2. continually learn at runtime
3. co-create seamlessly with the human

True understanding of intent is unsolved.
Online learning is unsolved.
Man-machine symbiosis is unsolved.

These are fantastically difficult technological challenges.

I choose to build PsyTech because I believe in Humanity.
